How to deploy the ERA agent using ESET Remote Administrator 5.x?

The ERA agent remotely manages the client computers. It implements the policies on the client computer installed in the independent network. Use ERA 6.x to generate the ERA Agent Live Installer package.
- Go to the link ESET Remote Administrator 6.x Web Console.
- Click on the Quick Link tab and then hit on Deploy ERA agent.
- Under the Create Agent Live Installer, click on the create installer.
- Select - ERA Certificate or Custom Certification, and Certificate Passphrase in the certificate section.
- Click on the Configuration to expand, enter the required details in the Installer Name, Description, Server Hostname, and the Parent Group (Last three are optional).
- Hit on the Get Installer button.
- Next to Agent installer for Windows, click on download.
- EraAgentInstaller.zip file gets displayed on the browser. You need to download the file and extract EraAgentInstaller.bat.
- You need to keep EraAgentInstaller.bat on the local folder/share folder or a drive for the client computer to access.
Creating a Policy in ERA 5.x
- You need to open ESET Remote Administrator Console 5.x.
- Click on Tools on the menu bar and from the drop-down select - Policy Manager
- Under the Action tab, click on Add New Policy and hit on OK.
- Enter the name of the policy in the Create New Policy window and hit on the OK button.
- You need to select the newly created policy and click on Add/Show Clients to add the client computer where the policy needs to apply.
- Click on Edit policy after selecting the newly created policy and click on OK.
- You need to expand the Windows desktop V5 in the Configuration Editor window, then go to Kernel, Settings, Scheduler/Planner and click twice on Scheduler/Planner.
- To download the Agent installer file, you need to create a task. For example - EraAgentInstaller.bat.
- Click on Add in the Schedule task window.
- Run External application needs to be selected and click on next. Give the name to the task and follow the instructions in the wizard to create the task.
- You need to enter the values in the Special Settings window as follow:
Enter C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe as a value in file section.
Enter C:\ProgramData\ESET as a value in the Work Directory field.
Enter (new-object System.Net.WebClient).DownloadFile('https://website.domain/ERAAgentInstaller.bat', 'C:/ProgramData/ESET/ERAAgentInstaller.bat') in the command line.
- Exit the Special settings window by clicking on OK.
You need to create the task to execute the Agent installer file.
Follow the exact same procedure used to download the Agent installer file mentioned in step 8. The only thing that will be different is the value in the command line. Fill everything same and enter the value given below in the command line field -
(New-Object -com Shell.Application).ShellExecute('C:\ProgramData\ESET\ERAAgentInstaller.bat')
- Exit the Special settings window by clicking on OK.
- To close the ESET Configuration Window, click on OK in the Schedule tasks window, then click on Yes if you are asked to save changes.
- The Window PowerShell starts downloading and executing the ERA Agent Live installer on the 5.x client computer after the created client tasks are triggered.
