Resolving Module update failed message or error 0073 on ESET Security.


Eset antivirus keeps you safeguarded from the malware, viruses, worms, etc. It provides banking and payment security by keeping your money secured by allowing you to make a payment online through the secured browsers for the online payment gateway.   • If you are not using the latest version of antivirus, then you need to upgrade Eset Window to the latest version. 
  • After updating the software to the latest version, you need to re-enter your ESET user name and password, or license key to activate My ESET window.
  • Make sure your license has not expired. 
  • You need to clear the updated cache.
  • If you have installed any antivirus software previously, you have to remove it from your device. 
  • If you are using a third-party firewall, then you need to exclude ESET from third-party firewall detection. 
  • You need to verify the settings properly  if you don’t use an HTTP proxy for downloading updates:





You need to open the main program window and press 5 to access the advanced set up[ window.

Click on Update, expand the profiles, go to update and then on connection options. From the proxy mode drop-down menu, select do not use a proxy server and click on OK.

You need to revoke the settings ESMC 7.x or ERA 6.x if your settings for HTTP proxy are locked.

Revoke the settings from ESMC web console or ERA web console, whichever is applicable. Uninstall the ESMC agent or ERA agent, and then uninstall and reinstall your ESET endpoint product.


Communication test with the ESET update server

  • You need to press Window key and R on your keyboard to open Run on your screen. Windows 8 user press Q instead of R. 
  • Type CMD and press the enter button. 
  • Then you need to type ping update.eset.com on the cmd window and hit on the enter key.
  • You will be able to see a reply from with IP address of the server you are trying to connect, in a case if you are able to connect.


Uninstall and reinstall the antivirus software.

You need to run the scan to clean the infections from your computer.
